Medicine in China is very different than anywhere else in the world, and the basic premise to medicine in China is that natural, alternative methods of treatment are better than more conservative methods, such as prescription medications which are more popular in Western medicine.
Chinese Medicine Treatment
There are three distinct types of chinese medicine – ancient chinese, classic chinese and traditional chinese medicine. During the nationalist government in China, the use of classic medicine was banned for 30 years. It was not until Mao Zedong assigned 10 medical doctors in 1960 to review and standardize the practices.
